Learn how to temporarily and safely workaround your Mac security settings to open the PSL+ application on your computer.
PSL+ is a safe application for your Mac, but it’s not available in the App Store, therefore it hasn’t been signed by Apple. If you receive an error message when downloading the new PSL+ installer, you can temporarily (and safely) override your Mac security settings to open PSL+ by following the steps below.
Disclaimers:
- In order to access PSL+ on a Mac, your macOS needs to be High Sierra 10.13 or newer.
- Printing on PSL+ will only work after downloading the installer for your Mac

For Safari Browsers
If you primarily use Safari, there are a couple of steps needed before you can start printing. If you use Chrome, Firefox, or another browser instead, you can jump to the next section.
- First, let’s find your Chip/Processor type on your computer.
- Then select the correct PSL+ installer that is provided by Cast & Crew.
How to find your Chip type:
- Click on the Apple logo in the upper left-hand corner of your screen.
- Select About This Mac and a small window will appear displaying your computer’s information. In this example, you can see that this computer’s Chip is "Apple M1 Pro."
- If you don't see your computer's "Chip" look for its "Processor" as shown below:
- Once you identify your Chip/Processor type, return to the PSL+ installer landing page and select the appropriate installer link for your Mac.
Mac Installation Instructions
- If you see a message like the one below, please click Cancel and begin by opening your computer’s System Settings.
- Go to Security & Privacy. Click the Open Anyway button towards the bottom of the popup to confirm your intent to open or install the PSL+ installer app.
- The warning prompt will reappear, and if you're ready to proceed, click Open.
- The new PSL+ installer app will now be saved as an exception to your security settings and you can open the file in your downloads folder by double-clicking it, just as you would for any app on your Mac.
- After this step, please proceed as normal to run the new download.
