Approval workflows let you control who approves specific documents within your project. This article will show you how to review or make edits to an existing workflow in Start+.
| Note: You will need to have the appropriate permissions in Start+ to configure and manage approval workflow settings. If you do not have access, reach out to your CRM for assistance. |
This article shows you how to perform this task in both Classic and New experiences.
Steps for Classic Experience

Open the Approval Workflow Editor
Log in to Start+ and choose the project you would like to update the approval workflow for and click the Workflows tab:
Select a Workflow to Edit
The workflows listed are initially set up by the Cast & Crew Implementation team based on your project admin’s direction.
Locate the workflow you want to update and click the three vertical dots, and then click Edit OR click View Workflow:
Either option will take you to the Workflow Builder.
Review Workflow Details
Once opened, you’ll see the Workflow Builder:
- The workflow name
- The approval chain with assigned approvers
Make Edits to the Workflow
You can make the following edits to the Approval Workflow:
- The name of the workflow
- The name of individual approval levels
- The approvers on an approval level
Changing the Name of a Workflow
On the left, you can edit the workflow name by selecting the pencil icon:

To change the name of an individual approval level, click the pencil icon for the specific level:

With the Workflow Builder, you can:
- Add an approver to a level
- Remove an approver from a level
Adding an Approver to an Approval Level
To add an approver to an approval level, click the +Add / Edit Approver button on the specific level you need to edit. This will present a dropdown of the available approvers to add, and a search bar to easily locate someone:
To add an approver, click on the approver in the list:
If you have a large number of available approvers, use the search bar to locate them quickly.
Once selected, the approver will be added to the approval level:
Removing an Approver from an Approval Level
To remove an approver, click the X to the right of their name on the specific level:
Using Quick Swap
On the Workflows tab, you can use the Quick Swap feature to quickly change one approver for another.
| Note: It’s important to note that you cannot undo your changes once you’ve made a quick swap. If changes need to be made after you confirm your changes, they’ll need to be done manually. |
Click the Quick swap button:
Next, search the approver you want to swap with a new one. Once selected, you will see all the approval workflows that they are an approver on:
Select the workflow desired and then search for the new approver.
Click Confirm:
You will be prompted to confirm the swap, click Confirm swap:
