Those with an Approver role in Start+ can Approve or Reject a crew member's offer, which includes important documents required by Cast & Crew and your studio/production, as well as a Form I-9.
If an approver rejects an offer, they have the option to keep the crew member's I-9 Form in its “Pending Approval” or “Verified” status in Start+ even if their offer is rejected. This means the crew member doesn’t need to complete their I-9 again when they’re reapproving their offer and it allows the I-9 to continue in the process while the offer details are updated.
How to Keep a Crew Member's I-9 Verified When Rejecting an Offer
Click here to watch this in action!
- Log in to Start+ and access your project.
- On the Approvals screen under the "Ready for Approval" tab, you'll see all the offers that are ready for you to review and approve or reject.
- When you click Reject on an offer, a window will display that allows you to select what you’d like to reject and add a note.
- Offer EXCLUDING I-9: Preserves that I-9 Form in its “Pending Approval” or “Verified” state while the rest of the offer documents are rejected
-
Entire offer INCLUDING I-9: Rejects all documents, including the I-9 Form, back to the Hiring Manager to make corrections
- Once you make a selection, add a note and click Submit.
- Now when you view all offers on the Manage Offers screen, you’ll see that the offer is rejected and the I-9 Form is in its current state.
Whether the offer is approved or rejected, this option allows the crew member to fill out the I-9 Form only once and keeps studios/productions within the I-9 compliance rules by preserving the original timestamp intact on the form.
If the I-9 Form is “Pending Approval,” the I-9 Reviewer can still review the I-9 on a rejected offer.
